A Dudley man has denied attempting to kill a woman following a stabbing at Himley Hall.

Ralph Foster, aged 55, of Bayswater Road, appeared at Stafford Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and section 18 wounding with intent to cause GBH.

The charges relate to an incident which happened just before 8pm on July 16, which saw a 30-year-old woman and her eight-year-old son taken to hospital.

A Brierley Hill woman has been sent to prison for 14 weeks for committing fraud.

Lesley Talbot, aged 44, of Mill Street, selected two packs of bras from display in Mothercare, Brierley Hill, on May 21, before taking them to the counter and claiming a refund in an attempt to gain a £60 credit note.

When she appeared before Dudley Magistrates Court she was also sentenced for stealing items, worth £54.90, from shops in Brierley Hill on May 21.

Past and present pupils will be celebrating the 120th anniversary of Cradley CE Primary School next month.

As part of the celebrations, the school’s current youngsters will be going back in time to learn about Cradley in 1897, while ex-students are invited to a special open afternoon.

A pregnant Kidderminster woman claimed she had been pushed into smuggling drugs into prison, after threats were made to her family.

Amy-Leigh Shuck, of Dunclent Crescent, was spared jail when she appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, August 18, after admitting conveying a class A article (cannabis) and a class B article (the SIM cards) into HMP Hewell, in Redditch.

The 20-year-old is seven months pregnant – with her baby due on October 2.

An appeal has been launched after a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in broad daylight in Rubery.

The assault took place on a footpath near the reservoir by Colmers School, joining with Leybrook Road, on Saturday, July 8, at around 1:45pm.

The girl was walking alone when she was approached by a man from behind and sexually assaulted.

Police are appealing for information after a crash in Redditch left a man with life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened at the McDonalds island on Moons Moat Drive around 2.30am yesterday (Sunday August 20).

A silver Gen 2 Proton saloon was heading from Redditch town centre when it collided with a barrier on the island - causing the vehicle to land on its roof.
