The Nest Learning Thermostat is now in its third generation, and aside from software updates, the device has largely retained its appearance since it was first introduced in 2011. That could be changing. According to gadget leak specialist Evan Blass, the device could be in for a whole new look.

Blass tweeted an image of the device, which shows off a whole new look. It retains its circular shape, but comes with a white ring and screen. While you can purchase a Nest thermostat with a white, copper, black, or silver ring, this looks to be a complete redesign: the traditional glass display looks to be replaced by a plastic one.

This fits with rumors from earlier this year that the Alphabet-owned company is developing a cheaper version of the thermostat, along with some other products like a home security system and smart doorbell. According to Bloomberg, the cheaper thermostat would retail for under $200, which is a drop from the present $247 that it currently retails for, and it’s expected to be released next year.
