Is Hillary Clinton Pursuing a Career in Ministry?

Former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is reportedly considering going into the ministry and becoming a pastor.

This may come as a surprise to many since, as RelevantMagazine.com notes, Clinton is widely perceived as not being religious.

Nevertheless, she has a long history of being involved in the Methodist Church. She has reportedly been considering a career in the ministry for more than 20 years.

A recent article in The Atlantic revealed that, although Clinton may have attempted to obscure her faith ties during her political career, in this new phase of life after her tough defeat in the 2016 presidential race, faith may play a central role.

The subject of Clinton’s interest in becoming a Methodist minister was revisited as Clinton’s longtime pastor Bill Shillady is set to release a new book about the daily devotionals he sent her during her 2016 presidential bid. The book is titled Strong for a Moment Like This.

In the book, Shillady explores why Clinton is often viewed as anti-religious, but also examines what Shillady believes is her strong commitment to her Christian faith.

“The general public didn’t necessarily want to accept the fact that she’s a Christian because there’s so many critics out there about the Clintons,” said Shillady.

He also said he believes Clinton would “make a great pastor” and suggested that, although she may not become officially ordained, she may be involved in guest preaching as a lay minister.
