Kevin Keatts hopes to turn things around with the NC State Wolfpack quickly. Bringing in recruits like three-star point guard Braxton Beverly is exactly what he needs to do.

The NC State Wolfpack fired longtime head coach Mark Gottfried after a dismal 2016-17 college basketball season. They had the talent to make a splash in the ACC and, instead, struggled all season long, resulting in Gottfried’s departure from the program.

Now, the torch has been handed to Kevin Keatts. Keatts will hope he can get things kick-started for the Wolfpack as soon as possible – and part of doing that will be because of his recruiting ability.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes’ commit Braxton Beverly decided to choose the Wolfpack despite being pursued hard by several other programs.

A 5’11, 170-pound point guard out of Hazard, Kentucky, Beverly is rated as a three-star recruit by most of the major recruiting sites. He played his high school basketball at Hargrave Military Academy and, as mentioned above, chose to go to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

He asked for his release from the program and was granted it, tweeting out the following tweet afterward:

Beverly will likely not play a huge role on the team next season, as there are other point guards on the NC State roster that will be on the depth chart ahead of him.

However, the addition of a likely four-year point guard like Beverly will pay out in the long run as Keatts attempts to turn the Wolfpack into a team that can compete in the ACC.
