FF News
With two wins over higher league opposition under their belt, John Askey’s Macclesfield Town side are on the lookout for a third scalp in their final pre-season game against League One Blackpool on Saturday. The Silkmen have already recorded wins against League Two Crewe and League One Bury and more than held their own in the game against Championship outfit Derby County. Now the team will be hoping to carry on their good pre-season form at Moss Rose against Blackpool. The Seasiders are preparing for life in League One after the club won promotion last season at Wembley via the play-offs, and with this being the last pre-season game before the opening day fixtures for both teams, it’ll be one last opportunity for players to impress the managers. John Askey spoke to mtfc.co.uk ahead of the friendly: “Blackpool will be a tough game but hopefully we can come out of it unscathed and start working on defending set pieces and various things we’ve not been able to deal with due to having various trialists in. “We want to come through the match unscathed, that’s the main aim.” Source: www.mtfc.co.uk Source
