BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. – A man from Summit, Arkansas has been arrested on burglary and theft charges stemming from an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle reported on July 16.

Milan Sweet, 26, stole a car from a garage at around 7:30 p.m. on July 16. The victim notified the Sheriff’s Office that one of her credit cards had been used at 9 p.m. at the Bullseye Gas Station in Gainesville, Missouri.

Early the following morning, Ozark County authorities alerted Baxter County that they had located the vehicle and the suspect was in custody. Investigators obtained a bench warrant from Baxter County Circuit Court to apprehend Sweet for his crimes in the county.

Sweet was extradited from Ozark County on Thursday evening and booked into Baxter County Jail on charges of residential burglary, felony theft of property, felony failure to appear and outstanding felony warrant parole violation.

He is currently being held on $30,000 bond for the new charges and without bond for the parole violation. Sweet has been booked seven times since 2009 on various charges including burglary, theft, battery, resisting arrest and failure to appear.

Sweet is scheduled to appear in court on August 3rd for the new charges.
