How to Colorize a B&W Photo Using Only Lightroom

Photo colorization is usually done in programs like Photoshop, but did you know that you can achieve good results in Lightroom as well? In this 21-minute video by tutvid, learn how to colorize a black and white photo using only Lightroom.

If Photoshop is so versatile and powerful, why on Earth would you bother using Lightroom to colorize? The video is more to show the capabilities of Lightroom and what it can do with some of the more hidden features.

By harnessing the power of adjustment brushes and non-destructive editing, you can bring color back to a monochromatic image.

Select the different colors you wish to paint onto the image, and use the sliders for each of the adjustments you’ve made to fine-tune the tone you’ve applied.

Painted over the edge of something? Just set your brush to “Erase” and set “Auto Mask” to “On”. Then just paint over the edges that the color has bled onto. Lightroom will find the edges and keep everything neat for you.
