The UAA Finals this past weekend in Georgia showcased many talented athletes, and 2018 Aaron Nesmith of Team TMP and Porter Gaud School(SC) defiantly left his mark. Nesmith had several coaches from high majors following his games all weekend and a few of those coaches offered him. Among those coaches to offer him this weekend were Coach White and the Florida Gators. GatorCountry.com caught up with Nesmith to talk about his Florida offer.
Nesmith is a tough minded 6’5 guard who is an efficient shooter and has proven that he can finish at the rim.
“I am a big wing who can play at both ends and my pride myself on that,” Nesmith said. “My strengths are shooting and getting to the basket and finishing at the rim.”
Nesmith had a great time competing with his Team TMP squad at the UAA Finals this past weekend. The chance to compete against some of the nation’s best was something that he was looking forward to.
“The UAA finals were a lot of fun,” he said. “A lot of very good talent and it was fun to match up against them and see where I was and what I need to improve on. It was a great experience”
The Florida Gators offered Nesmith on Sunday after monitoring him all weekend. The news of the Florida offer pumped Nesmith up.
“I was pumped to get the offer,” Nesmith said in regards to the Florida offer. “It means a lot to me being a high academic school and high basketball program. I think I would slide right in and be a perfect fit. It sounds like they believe in me and that I can help them succeed.”
Nesmith has no favorites or any visits planned but is looking to attend a school that gives him the best opportunity to grow on and off the court.
“Virginia Tech ,Yale, Harvard, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech and South Carolina are some of the main schools involved right now. I’m just looking to find a place that can push on and off the court to make me a better person and player.”
