Kentucky Football recruiting is at an all time high. Recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow is a major reason. Wildcat Blue Nation got the chance to speak with Marrow about his time at Kentucky.

Before I get to the interview portion, I want to take a second to thank Coach Marrow for his willingness to give Wildcat Blue Nation his time. The Kentucky Football fans love this staff and the recent success that the Wildcats have had.

Marrow offered a great conversation that ranged from the Kentucky Wildcats’ quarterback battle to his greatest accomplishments as a coach at Kentucky.

The team at Wildcat Blue Nation is set on improving their Kentucky Football coverage and it stars with this interview with coach Marrow. We here at WBN look forward to bringing Kentucky fans the best football coverage out there.

Take a look at what the big man on Kentucky’s staff had to say as the college football season is nearing.

Kentucky Football recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow speaks with WBN’s Brandon Rue

Wildcat Blue Nation reached out to the University of Kentucky and acquired the opportunity to speak with Kentucky’s recruiting guru himself, Vince Marrow. WBN’s Brandon Rue spoke with the Ohio native about many things regarding the Kentucky Football program.

"WBN: Coach, since you’ve arrived at Kentucky, has the players’ point of view changed in regards to Kentucky football?Marrow: “Oh, yea. There’s no doubt. Over the years you have to build credibility. But see, the brand was always there. We’ve always had a prominent brand. But we had to change the culture. Take a look at Ohio. Our logo in Ohio got really strong, and I’d say it’s second to Ohio State there.”"

Being second to Ohio State is something that has been proven to be true over the last 5 years. The overwhelming majority of current Kentucky football players hail from the state of Ohio. The Ohio to Kentucky pipeline will get stronger, as the Kentucky football production does the same.

"WBN: What has been the biggest surprise to you in your five years at Kentucky?Marrow: “Man, you know, before I came here everybody was telling me that Kentucky was a basketball school. The support from the fans shocked us coaches. It really took the players by surprise, too”"

While Kentucky has been widely recognized for its basketball program, the fans of the Wildcats are in dire need of a football team that wins. It’s been 40 years since Kentucky football has had a 10 game season. But forget 10 games. If the Kentucky faithful have a bowl season inclination, Kroger field will be packed.

Kentucky Football: Who will be the offensive sleeper pick for 2017?

Kentucky Football Recruiting

Coach Marrow became very confident in saying “we aren’t taking a backseat to anyone.” This has been shown since day one. Kentucky has been targeting some of America’s top players, and getting them.

"WBN: What positions are going to be the primary focus for the staff in 2019?Marrow: “All of them, we aren’t taking a backseat to anybody. But to win in this league, we really need to go after offensive and defensive linemen, and quarterbacks.”WBN: What kind of quarterbacks do you all try to target? Scramblers? Pocket passers?Marrow: “We really just want a difference maker. Somebody who can be a leader and help us win football games.”WBN: Have all the players from the 2017 recruiting class made it to campus? Are you confident they will if they haven’t yet?Marrow: “I’m confident we’ll have all of our guys here. Some guys get here in June, and some come later in July, and into August. But I’m confident all of our guys will be here.”"

This is an important message from coach Marrow. With one of Kentucky’s biggest commits in 2017, in Lynn Bowden, still not being on campus. Justin Rowland also broke the news that Bowden would be on campus sometime after July 4th.

Marrow’s Biggest Accomplishment?

"WBN: What is your biggest accomplishment as a coach since being at Kentucky?Marrow: “My biggest accomplishment is seeing the guys that I’ve recruited walking across that stage and graduating. A lot of these guys come from the inner-city, and a lot of them are the first in their families to graduate from college.”"

Coach Marrow’s response here really shows you who he is behind closed doors. Vince is a man if integrity and character, and aside from football, a good man. Kentuckians ought to be glad to have him.

"WBN: Is there anything you’d like to say to Kentucky football fans and anybody else out there supporting the Wildcats?Marrow: “Man, we appreciate all of the support from the fans and the media. We love y’all. Also, we like where we’re going with the program. We’re excited to put out a winning team. We won’t be taking a backseat to anyone. We need you all to fill up the stadium and support the best you can.”"

It’s good to see confidence from coach Marrow. He reiterated many times that Kentucky will not be taking a backseat to anyone. This will be an integral part of the attitude Kentucky Football will need in order to be successful.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed talking to Coach Marrow. He spoke with confidence and eagerness as the 2017 season is quickly approaching.

Lynn Bowden will officially be suiting up for Kentucky. This is big news for the Big Blue Nation. Bowden received the test scores he needed, as first reported by CatsIllustrated.com’s Justin Rowland.

We want to give a big thanks to Vince Marrow, again. Appreciate coach very much.

65 days until football. Let’s go!
