Tim Tebow Promoted to Mets’ Advanced Class A Affiliate in Florida

Christian athlete Tim Tebow, who is trying to make a career as a baseball player, has been promoted to the Mets’ Advanced Class A affiliate team in Saint Lucie, Florida.

Tebow has been with the Mets’ Class A affiliate the Columbia Fireflies since last year. According to CBN News, the Mets’ general manager Sandy Alderson believes Tebow is ready for the next step in his baseball career.

"Clearly, it's a step up," Alderson said. "I certainly think he can handle it."

Going into his final game with the Fireflies, Tebow had a .222 batting average, including three home runs and 23 RBIs.

Although these numbers are good, they generally are not good enough to receive a promotion to a higher class team, but Tebow knows that ultimately, all he can do is give it his all each time he’s on the field and trust God with the rest.

"For me, it's not something I have to answer," Tebow said. "There's a lot smarter, wiser people than me that make those decisions. I just try and show up and play hard every day."

The Fireflies’ President John Katz also had praise for Tebow: "We've said he's just one of 25 guys. At the end of the day, he really is. He wants to succeed. He puts in the work and hopefully, he'll have continued success at a higher level."

Tebow, who grew up in Florida, said he is excited about the opportunity to be back in his home state.

"I obviously love Florida so this is nice," he said, smiling. "But the goal and focus is improving as a baseball player."
