Missouri Football: Tigers host a losing battle against Purdue this fall
This fall, Missouri’s football schedule is filled with intrigue and endless possibilities. The Tigers’ matchup against Purdue has many hoping for a better result than history suggests.
Of course, we’re nearing the end of June, so to suggest the outcome of any given game in the fall can go in Missouri’s favor, carries as much weight as predicting the weather on Mars.
Historically, Mizzou’s record against Purdue is embarrassing. Purdue was more of a power house then, than it is now, but nonetheless, losing to the Boilermakers is nothing short of disappointment – as a B1G alum, I can attest.
Of their six meetings, Missouri has won one (1) game. Of course, Mizzou hasn’t played Purdue in a few decades, and in their last meeting, the Tigers lost, again.

Sometimes, timing is everything. Over the offseason, timing was perfect for Missouri’s basketball program.
Missouri hired head coach Cuonzo Martin, who brought in new assistant coach Michael Porter, Sr., who had just been relieved of his job at Washington.
All the pieces fell perfectly into place for what had been a dire situation in CoMo. Four months ago, nobody could have imagined that Mizzou would tout the nation’s fifth-best recruiting class.
But for Michael Porter, Sr.’s desire to eventually return home to Columbia, MO, Mizzou would likely be seeing a different picture, here. A picture stark in contrast to what has developed.
Many hoped to remain faithful to alum and former head coach Kim Anderson – the ideology that you always know what you have, played true among them. It was the right move, then, for Missouri, and it’s remained so, even now.
In a way-too-early mock draft, the consensus has it that Michael Porter, Jr. is a top-2 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. I can’t wait to see this kid play in the fall, whether Jontay Porter re-classifies for 2017 or not, watching Michael Porter, Jr. will be extremely exciting.

While the mock-up of the 2018 NBA Draft, a mere two days after the 2017 draft was held is a bit of a reach, I will not be surprised to see Michael chosen in the top five of next year’s draft.
