TERRITOIRES is a live audiovisual performance exploring the atmosphere of tension between individuals and their environment through the interaction of sound, digital imagery, text and dance. Artists from the Fracture collective design poetic landscapes highlighting current social issues.
During the piece, an actor reveals (using their voice, words, gestures and movement) the direct interrelations between the music, video and lighting. The soundscape, supported by textures and rhythms borrowed from current electronic music, evolves continuously by capturing and manipulating sound samples live. Cameras and motion capture devices are used to feed video projections by inlaying the shadow and picture of the actor.
The artists also reappropriate natural and industrial objects to make musical and visual instruments. Handling everyday objects triggers unexpected movement questioning the relationships between humans and the natural territory they evolve in.
TERRITOIRES was first shown at the PHOS Festival in September 2016 (Matane, Quebec). TERRITORIES was partly created during the BeauLieu Culturel du Témiscouata creative residency at the Cégep de Matane and the Laboratoire des nouvelles technologies de l’image, du son et de la scène (LANTISS).
