Kavell Bigby-Williams Under Investigation For Sexual Assault

Former Oregon Basketball Player Kavell Bigby-Williams was under investigation for sexual assault before he came to Eugene.

Bigby-Williams was one of the top JUCO Transfers in the Nation when he came to play for Dana Altman last year. He helped the Oregon Ducks get to the Final Four, but may have brought a checkered past that is now coming to light according to the Daily Emerald.

The alleged assault took place last September before Bigby-Williams even made it to Eugene. University of Oregon Police have known about the case since September 28th, two days after the Fall Academic Term started according to the report. The University of Oregon Police made numerous attempts to speak with Bigby-Williams, but were shut down by his lawyer

Head Coach Dana Altman, Athletic Director Rob Mullens and other from the Athletic Department were aware UOPD was trying to reach out to Bigby-Williams, but it went no further. They did not inquire as to why.

Three years ago it was three Oregon Basketball players that were accused of sexual assault and were allowed to play while ‘under investigation’. Bradon Austin, Damyean Dotson and Dominic Artis left the program after the allegations came to light and Head Coach Dana Altman found a way for the team to recover reaching two Elite 8 and a Final Four Appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

This news, if true, once again brings player transgressions to light heading into a Summer of rebuilding for the Oregon Men’s Basketball team. I have always believed in ‘Innocent Until Proven Guilty’, but the line of communication, in this case, appears to have some merit.
