Jeopardy's answer on Bergen County's Blue Laws: What is wrong, wrong, wrong?

Bergen County's infamous blue laws seemed to stump Jeopardy contestants, as well as host Alex Trebek, on a Tuesday night episode.

"Bergen County has one of the nation's last blue laws, banning retailers from doing this," Trebek read to the contestants.

The first contestant's answer, of course in the form of a question, was "What is selling alcohol?"

No, Trebek flatly responds.

The second contestant rings in with, "What is selling alcohol on Sundays?"

And Trebek answers, "We'll accept that. What is selling anything on Sunday."

But, Bergen County residents knew immediately the popular quiz show had gotten it wrong. Under the Blue Laws, folks in Bergen County can buy food and alcohol on Sunday. But they can't buy a home, furniture, clothing, or just about anything else.

Flea markets fall under the law and are most likely to violate the law, local officials said. Garage sales, though, are not included because they are "isolated transactions," the law states.
