Magazine reviewing Govt’s performance launched

A magazine dedicated towards focusing on the current O’Neill/Dion Government’s policy performance over the last five years was launched today.

The Mell Review magazine titled ‘O’Neill-Dion Govt to Return in 2017’ is produced by local researcher and businessman Michael Mell under the Mell Research and Marketing Consultant (MRMC).

The magazine compares the policy performance to negative criticism labeled against the government over the five year period and gives social, economic and political insights to PNG’s current setting.

It also presents some of the opinion poll work that the research company has been carrying out just prior and during the 2017 National Elections.

The opinion poll looks at the popularity ratings of the outgoing members of parliament who were sitting MPs during the last election term from 2012-2017 and provides analysis of their performance.

From this and public views engagement, their chances of retaining their seat is presented.

Mell says the magazine is an independent publication from his own research company and what they have published so far has always been from the result of research and investigative work.

“The findings, following extensive visits to many districts suggests that the Government has delivered on its policies unlike most past Governments.

“Some of the positive developments include building and empowering schools, fostering mindset change of rural dwellers, new bilateral relationships, connecting people through roads and communication.

“Yes, we say that on the backdrop of all these positive changes, there’s a lot of debt and our debt level is exhausting our revenue but the country has not gone broke and we must remain optimistic,” Mell said.

The magazine profiles three electorates, Nipa Kutubu, Anglimp South Waghi and Usino Bundi that successfully reflect the total performance of the current Government.

It also predicts that more than 50 percent of the sitting MPs will retain their seats following this election.

MRMC also carried out a second opinion poll which will be out in the media next week. It will present the top three candidates of all the 111 seats along with their chances of winning.
