Officer injured in crash while responding to call

An Indiana state trooper was injured Saturday when another motorist failed to yield as he was responding to a call in his police car.

Trooper Nathan Parton was driving east on Washington Street with his lights and siren activated, according to state police. Sandra Huff, 64, Indianapolis, was driving north on Taft Street and failed to yield, hitting the police car, police said.

Parton was transported to Eskenazi Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. He has been with the state police for two years.

Huff, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
