WEBVTT MORNING, WHERE INVESTIGATORS ARELOOKING FOR CLUES.KATIE?KATIE: GOOD MORNING, RANDY AND ANTOINETTE.YEAH, IT REALLY IS REALLY A MIRACLE THAT NOBODY WAS SERIOUSLY HURT IN THIS.TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THE DAMAGE LOOKS LIKE THIS MORNING.FIREFIGHTERS ON-SCENE MONITORINGTHE HOT SPOTS.THEY HAD THE LADDER UP BUT JUST BROUGHT IT DOWN.EIGHT BUILDINGS BURNED, THREE DESTROYED.FAMILIES HERE NOW DISPLACED AND UNDERSTANDABLY DEVASTATED AS WELL.IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE 3:30.OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES INTO THE 90'S.SEVERAL TRIPLE-DECKERS WERE FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES.THE FIRE QUICKLY GROWING TO SIX ALARMS.FLAMES SPREADING OVER TO SARATOGA STREET WHICH RUNS PARALLEL TO BENNINGTON STREET.TWO PEOPLE WERE TEMPORARILY TRAPPED INSIDE.THEY ARE SAFE THIS MORNING AFTERBEING RESCUED FROM THEIR BURNINGHOMES.>> I DON'T WANT TO PLAY NO HERO,BECAUSE I'M NOT A HERO.SOMEBODY JUST TOLD ME TO GO GRABHER, AND I GRABBED HERKATIE: IGNACIO DURAN RESCUED ONEOF THE RESIDENTS.FIREFIGHTERS RESCUED THE SECOND.MUTUAL AID FROM 18 NEARBY DEPARTMENTS RUSHED IN TO HELP.WE TALKED ABOUT HOW LUCKY IT WASTHAT NOBODY WAS SERIOUSLY HURT.WELL, THREE FIREFIGHTERS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR HEAT EXHAUSTION AND ONE RESIDENT SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.

Three firefighters and a resident were injured in a massive fire in Massachusetts that destroyed three multifamily homes and damaged five other buildings. The state fire marshal estimates damage from the fire Sunday in Lawrence at more than $1 million. More than 60 residents were displaced. Lawrence Fire Chief Brian Moriarty said three homes were ablaze when firefighters arrived around 3:30 p.m. Paulino Rivera Jr. was one of the residents who was forced to flee the flames. He said he left everything behind.“Gotta start from scratch. That’s all I can do,” he said. “Everything – (my) ID, medication, cell phone, everything is gone.”Rivera along with most of the other tenants are staying in hotels thanks to vouchers from the American Red Cross.“The neighborhood outreaches, the churches, the good faith groups that help out are tremendous in a situation like this,” Moriarty said.
