Massachusetts Weather Forecast: When Does Rain End?

After more potential storms today, rain is in the forecast five of the next seven days. Here's the complete forecast.

Let's get this out of the way quickly: Those random, spotty, isolated storms that bring along a bit of hail are possible later today. It's the third straight day of not knowing whether to pack a sunhat or an umbrella. Another beautiful start to a day that could be interrupted by an apocalyptic opening of the skies at any minute. And you better get used to it.

The Globe's Yvonne Abraham recently wrote a piece bemoaning how summer this year was apparently contained to those "four freakishly warm weekdays in May." And otherwise it's just been "endless days of gray dankess" and "blah."

We're here to tell you that she's right. Five of the next seven days after today have at least a 50 percent chance of rain, according to Weather.com.

Technically the meteorological summer started Thursday. And really today isn't all that bad, with mostly sunny skies outside of the brief showers and storms possible in the afternoon and early evening. High temperatures are already in the upper 60s in many places.

So here's the forecast for the next week:

Saturday: Sound the alarms! It's a nice, comfortable, dry day tomorrow. It's quite a beach day - high temperatures won't quite crack 70 and it's partly cloudy, but there's only a minimal chance of rain. Night will be a bit chilly, though.

Sunday: Ah, that's more like it. It will start off fine and even reach 70 degrees, but there's a 70 percent chance of late afternoon rain and a 100 percent chance of a nighttime soaking.

Monday: Maybe the cruddiest day of them all. High temperatures in the mid 50s, showers possible in the morning that turns more steady, and possible thunder. Chance of rain: 90 percent.

Tuesday: Same relatively cold temperatures with showers and possible thunder. Chance of rain is 60 percent.

Wednesday: Fifty percent chance of morning showers. Rest of the day cloudy in the low 60s.

Thursday: As of now this looks like it will be the best of the bunch. Mostly sunny skies with a few afternoon clouds and just a 10 percent chance of rain. High temperatures in the low 70s.

Friday: Warm with temperatures in the mid 70s , but still cloudy with occasional showers mixing in. Chance of rain is 60 percent.

Looking for hope after that? It's early, but Saturday-Friday are all in the 70s and mostly dry, except for potentially isolated storms Tuesday.
