Oregon Softball: Megan Kleist Thows Complete Game, Ducks Win 4-0 vs Kentucky

Oregon Ducks Starter Megan Kleist pitched the best game of her career giving up three hits and the Defense stepped up in a 4-0 win taking Game 1 of the Super Regional in Eugene.

Kentucky Starter Meagan Price did her best to throw off the Ducks rhythm and it worked through the first two innings. Megan Kleist gave up two hits in the first two innings.

The Oregon Offense did find a way past first base with a Gwen Svekis double, but the inning came to an end with Nikki Udria grounding out. Gwen Svekis hit a single to right center field scoring Alexis Mack giving Oregon a 1-0 lead with two outs in the bottom of the third waking up the sellout crowd at Jane Sanders Stadium.

Megan Kleist found the strikezone and kept it to a 1-0 score until the bottom of the sixth. Nikki Udria was hit by a pitch bringing up Shannon Rhodes. She walked on a 3-1 count loading the bases for Mia Camuso with no outs. She grounded out to first, but picked up an RBI to make it 2-0 Oregon.

Madi Bishop also grounded out to first, but she also plated an RBI in Nikki Udria giving the Ducks a 3-0 lead with two outs bringing up Lauren Lindvall. She would keep the inning going after a bobble by the Kentucky Third Baseman and adding another run for a 4-0 lead.

it was all that the Oregon Ducks needed. Megan Kleist threw 7 complete innings giving up three hits and picking eight strikeouts. The victory gave Oregon a 1-0 lead in the Best of Three Series.
