Massachusetts Memorial Day Weekend Traffic

It's not as bad as Thursday's commute, but it's not pretty out there either.

The good news: The Memorial Day weekend traffic getaway rush isn't as bad as we end the work week as it was late Thursday afternoon. The bad news: it's not great out there, with complete gridlock in and directly around Boston.

Here are some of the highlights as of 5 p.m.

It's bad on 93 North from just past Exit 13 south of Boston up to 95. 93 South is packed solid from the just shy of the city down past the Braintree Split.

95 North is much better than Thursday's commute, but is slammed at Route 4 and from Route 3 in Burlington to Route 1. 95 South is is good until you get near the Pike, where it gets bad until about Route 1.

Route 3 is getting pretty bad in spots heading down toward the Cape. Here's how that look as of 5 p.m.

The Mass. Pike westbound is a crawl down until a good bit past 495. Eastbound is relatively clear until you get to about Waltham.

495 North has some rough spots from Route 2 up into Lawrence. Southbound is only really bad in the Hudson and Westborough areas.

Route 9 is OK until you get to Framingham, where it really slows down for a stretch.

Traffic on the main Worcester roads is in really bad shape. Here's as of 5 p.m.
