Winter Sky Reflection: Photo Of The Day

This may look like an estuary, but this is actually a Little League ball park!

UNION CITY, CA — After several days of summerlike temperatures, the winter storms that kept us waterlogged for months seem like a distant memory. But the photo above reminds us of just how much rain fell.

Patrick Hirayama sent this photo of Veterans Park Little League Field in Union City. The cotton candy-colored clouds reflected in the water add a nice touch.

Lucky for the ball players, the field is now dry. Local kids aspiring to the Little League World Series can set their sights on Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where the championship is played each year. If you'd like to see some great youth baseball without traveling across country, the Intermediate League (50/70) Baseball World Series, for 11-12-13 year olds, will be held in nearby Livermore from July 30 – August 6. This is the fifth year the World Series will be held in Livermore.
