Nonprofit Helps Residents Who Want To Rent Rooms In Their Homes

HIP Housing screens renters. They are interviewed, provide references and are required to complete a criminal background check.

FREMONT, CA —Have a room for rent? Looking for a place to share? HIP Housing, a local nonprofit with over 40 years of experience can help people who live, work, or attend school in Fremont find an affordable room to rent in Fremont, Union City, or Newark.

All clients, whether seeking or offering a home, are interviewed, provide references and are required to complete a criminal background check. Resources are also available to help participants decide if they are compatible.

Potential housemates interview each other, work on inventory checklists, and sign a Living Together Agreement. After matches are made, follow-up support is then provided. The home sharing program is funded by the City of Fremont and is offered at no cost to the public.
