“Speedway Special”
This car is modeled after some cars that I saw at a show in St.Joseph, Mo. Please excuse the lack of photos now, I will have one of my daughters remedy that later.
The frame is 91 inches long, 20 inches in the rear, and tapers to
16 inches in the front. The taper runs from mid chassis to the front end. The front axle is an underslung design and sits an inch in front of the frame. The support for the transverse front
spring is made of 1/4 inch plate. The grille shell closely
resembles that of a 25 T. The shell has some taper in it's 2 1/2
inch depth and the hood and cowl taper up another 2 1/8 inches making the cowl 18 inches above the frame rails. This is over a length of 38 inches.
"In the day" these cars had fabricated
cowls that enclosed the area from the firewall to just short of the steering wheel, which I am trying to capture. I will
make a bucket seat next week.
moving on back, the area behind the seat has a simulated fuel tank and tool box to cover the engine and running gear.
I have the wheels ready for paint [yellow] and the running gear and frame and axle will be black with a touch of stainless. The grille shell is chrome.
The engine is a clone with a 30 series converter.
I am using the 17 inch Honda wheels, however I would have preferred a smaller diameter and wider tire.
I am no computer wizz so I hope I put this in the right place.

Hello, Bob! Unusual design, but very proportional and generally cute! Nice details, too. For me, wheels look good. What is wheelbase? Regards, Zoran
