ClearCorrect™ vs. Braces

While you might want orthodontic work for cosmetic reasons, like helping you feel confident in your smile, straighter teeth with a correct bite are healthier teeth too, because they’re easier to clean and wear less easily than crooked teeth. Wildflower Dental & Orthodontics is proud to offer our patients options with traditional braces and ClearCorrect™ aligners.

Traditional Braces

When you hear braces, you might be picturing “brace face,” a mouth filled with metal and wires. Technology and orthodontics have progressed beyond that and now in our modern age, traditional metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more efficient than ever before.

Braces consist of metal brackets attached to the teeth that are than attached to each other with wires, which exert gentle pressure on your teeth to gradually move them into a the desired position. Traditional metal braces are effective in treating crooked and/or crowded teeth, spacing, and more involved issues involving alignment, like overbite or underbite. Braces are magnets for food, so you have to be extra careful about brushing and flossing your teeth with braces so that when they are removed your smile is healthy, clean, and straight!

ClearCorrect™

If your orthodontic treatment is focused more on cosmetic issues of gapping, crowding, and crooked teeth, you might be a candidate for ClearCorrect™. As the name suggests, ClearCorrect is a nearly invisible orthodontic option; there are no brackets, wires, or rubber bands. Instead, this option consists of custom-made, clear aligner trays that systematically help shift your teeth into more desired positions.

ClearCorrect aligners are fully removable so you can take them out when eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Your ClearCorrect aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours of everyday. You will swap out your aligners for a new set every two or three weeks or so. It’s important that you attend regular checkups so you can get your new ClearCorrect™ aligners and Dr. Walkington can monitor your progress.

If you are considering straightening your teeth, you should schedule your free orthodontic consultation with Wildflower Dental & Orthodontics today! Dr. Walkington is experienced with both ClearCorrect and traditional braces and he will help you choose the right course of action for correcting your smile.
