Frank Underwood Is Back In New Trailer For ‘House Of Cards’ Season 5

Remember when Season 4 of Netflix’sHouse of Cards” was released? America was a much different place back in March 2016. The idea of an uber-corrupt President was still an entertaining thought, best left for the small screen. Flash-forward to the present day, and it’s going to be interesting to see how the new showrunners of “House of Cards” present the upcoming Season 5 in light of our real life political climate. Presumably “House Of Cards” is going to literally feast on all and every Trump comparisons; it’ll do wonders for the ratings…err streams…

In the trailer for Season 5, viewers are finally getting a glimpse at what the new season has to offer. When creator/showrunner Beau Willimon left the series after last season, with senior writers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese getting called up to replace him, no one really knew what to expect. Obviously, the new season will have to deal with Frank Underwood’s upcoming election, but will we start to see the Underwoods family begin their downfall or will they survive, as they do season after season? All that’s teased is that Frank and Claire, “whose characters have always been each other’s strongest allies, show cracks in their relationship.” Considering they’ve practically been divorced and each other’s greatest enemies, this is a bit silly, but who knows where the show is going without Willimon.

Gibson and Pugliese are not the only changes to the new season. The cast is growing too with the additions of veteran actors Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott, joining the already amazing cast of Kevin Spacey (as Francis Underwood) and Robin Wright (as Claire Underwood), Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks and Joel Kinnaman. Netflix will release all new episodes of “House of Cards” on May 30.
