Call of Duty: WW2 Release Date Apparently Leaked

First Destiny 2, now Call of Duty WW2. Activision's promo materials keep spoiling their surprises.

In a development that's becoming oddly routine for Activsion, promotional materials appear to have given more details on Call of Duty: WW2 ahead of its official debut event. This time it's only a few minor details, including a likely release date.

The leak appeared on the game's dedicated subreddit (via Polygon). The release date is slated for Friday, November 3, which would fit with Call of Duty's typical November-Friday launches. Other details include an original story for the cooperative mode, and private beta access offered as a pre-order incentive. It also boasts what you'd expect from a Call of Duty game set in World War 2, like the Normandy invasion, war on the European front, and "the bonds of camaraderie."

It all seems of-a-type for a Call of Duty game that promised to go back to its roots, even if the name sounds what a player would Google if they couldn't remember the actual title. Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games are planning a livestream event this Wednesday, where we'll likely see these details along with the first footage of the upcoming game.

So far all indications are that the companies are playing it safe by going back to familiar territory, but who knows? It has been almost a decade since the series took place in the World War 2, so there's plenty of room for it to explore new systems that have developed since then. At the very least, it will probably be the prettiest (and/or most horrific) Normandy invasion we've seen.

      Before clicking,

Second week of November to get those Christmas sales.

After clicking: First week of November.

Well, I guess that is somewhat of a surprise. Not worth leaking or caring about though.

It wasn't a commentary on the reporting, it was about how little surprise there is to anything Activision does with Call of Duty.

It is as news worthy as any other release date, but Activision is just...standard greed based AAA with no exceptions made for anything.

They should have called it Call of Duty: More Warfare

Yeah, same way I can predict the release date of every Star Wars movie for the next decade: some time between December 15-18, or at least the third week of December.

That is until they put out two a year.

Okay I'm just going to come out and say it, I'm excited about this one.

Looking forward to seeing the over the top eye candy and set pieces. SP campaigns should be awesome.

They'll probably hold off the release in commonwealth nations until the 11th November. It wouldn't be Activision if they didn't do something in bad taste.
