Oregon Starter David Peterson Gives Up 10 Hits In Loss To Stanford
Head Coach George Horton watched David Peterson have a rare off night on the mound giving up ten hits as the Oregon Ducks lost to Stanford.
The Oregon Ducks(23-11, 6-7 Pac-12) came off a rough weekend dropping two of three against Arizona and hoped to turn the tide at home hosting Stanford. David Peterson got his usual Friday start and was in trouble early. The Cardinal(21-12, 6-7 Pac-12) found ways to get to him early with a run and two hits in the first inning.

The top of the second did not go any better for Peterson. He allowed two additional runs to Stanford as they started to build a lead at 3-0. The Oregon Junior forced a groundout to end the inning.
Gabe Matthews led off the bottom of the second with a home run to put the Oregon Ducks on the board. Daniel Patzlaff followed with an RBI single. Taylor Travess worked a walk which brought up Morgan McCullough who was out at first base. Oregon did get a run in the inning.
The Oregon Ducks next saw the base pads in the bottom of the fifth as Kyle Kasser singled bringing up Jake Bennett. Bennett flew out to right field. Spencer Steer. Stanford pitching took care of Steer who flew out to center. Oregon had five hits through five innings leaving four on base.
David Peterson found more trouble in the top of the sixth giving up three hits and scoring a Stanford run leaving runners at first and third. He got out of the inning, but for the game to that point gave up 10 hits and 4 runs to the Cardinal.
Oregon broke through with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jake Bennett and Spencer Steer both had RBI hits to pull Oregon within a run. Cooper Stiles came in to pitch the eighth relieving Starter David Peterson who went 7 innings, gave up 10 hits and four earned runs with five strikeouts.

Gabe Matthews had a chance with two on and two out in the bottom of the ninth, but struck out, giving Stanford the upper hand and the Friday win. David Peterson took a rare loss as the Ducks will regroup for games on Saturday(2pm) and Sunday(Noon) vs the Stanford Cardinal.
