Tom Benson buys Cadillac of New Orleans in Metairie

New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson has purchased Cadillac of New Orleans in Metairie. The deal expands the billionaire's auto holdings in the greater New Orleans area to three dealerships.

The property at 3100 Lime St. is the sole Cadillac dealership south of Lake Pontchartrain, serving New Orleans and the surrounding region. It sells both new and pre-owned Cadillacs in addition to running a full service department, according to a news release.

In the release, Benson called Cadillac "the true gold standard in the automotive world." Benson also owns Best Chevrolet in Kenner and Mercedes-Benz of New Orleans on Veterans Boulevard in Metairie.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Entry price points on Cadillac are good but to get marginal upgrades they force consumers into a much higher bracket. The XT5 for example you can get the base for 40K but if you want a couple of extras it goes to right at 70K. There is no middle ground.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid. Great car, happy with our XT5 but damn, there are not many options to choose from. It's either this or that. Take it or leave it.

I will say the rearview driving camera and heads up display are very nice features but I could have done without it if I did not have a wife.

How much "Dead Money" did this result in and how does the impact the "Cap"? What was the dealerships 40 time as well as vertical leap?

Did he "Kick the Tires" and see "What's Left In The Tank"? Did he get it on "The Cheap" for the "Hometown Discount"?

Most importantly why didn't he purchase a dealership in Baton Rouge? Even more proof............!

It's business as usual. I think he just sold his rights to his TV station. He's a car salesman by nature and that is where he got his start.

I had a Caddy but can't afford another one.

I've never gone that direction because they just can't seem to figure the pickup thing. The Escalade just didn't have a big enough bed.
