Hot Tickets: Unbeaten Wesco 4A tennis squads to clash

Here are five local prep events this week to keep an eye on:

1. Girls tennis: Jackson at Lake Stevens, 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. This matchup of two unbeaten squads should be as good as it gets in Wesco 4A this season. The Vikings’ Emily Stevens and the Timberwolves’ Maheen Jamshidpour most likely will put on a good show at No. 1 singles.

2. Baseball: Cedar Park Christian-Bothell at Archbishop Murphy, 4 p.m. Tuesday. This is the first of two games this week that probably will decide the Cascade Conference championship. The Eagles (11-0 overall, 8-0 conference) have the look of a state-tournament contender, and the Wildcats (9-2, 7-0) aren’t far behind.

3. Softball: Cedarcrest at South Whidbey, 4 p.m. Tuesday. Cedarcrest (8-0, 3-0 conference) has scored 10 runs or more in six of its eight games (all wins). The Red Wolves can move into first place in the Cascade Conference with a victory over the Falcons (5-2, 4-0).

4. Softball: Mountlake Terrace at Snohomish, 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Hawks are off to a 5-2 start and are in second place in the Wesco 3A South, while the Panthers are on top of the Wesco 3A North and sport a 5-1 overall mark. This will be a good test for both teams, and a potential playoff preview.

5. Boys soccer: Snohomish at Lynnwood, 7:30 p.m. Friday. The 2016 4A state champion Panthers have predictably acclimated themselves to the 3A ranks quite well, boasting a 6-2 overall record. The Royals allowed 11 goals in their first two games of the season but just seven in their next seven contests.
