Funeral set for longtime Michigan news anchor Rich Fisher

DETROIT - Funeral plans have been set after the death of Rich Fisher, a popular former Flint and Detroit TV news anchor who died of cancer Friday at 67.

A memorial service is planned at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks in Clawson, beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Fisher, a Detroit native, began his broadcast career in 1968 in Alpena. He worked for five years with WJRT-TV in Flint and transferred in 1979 to WXYZ-TV, Channel 7 News in Detroit, where he'd spend the next 12 years.

He moved to WJBK-TV, Fox 2 News in 1990, where he remained until 1997.

He is survived by his children, Bill Fisher, Richard Fisher, Stephanie (Bryan) Inman, and Allison Fisher, and granddaughter Madison James

Memorial donations can be sent to the Foundation for American Veterans or the charity of the donor's choice.
