Parents almost riot when their opposition against Muslim prayers in the school is ignored. There should be no religion in the schools. These parents are at a boiling point — and I predict you’ll be seeing more of this pushback. It’s long overdue. After months of being ignored, these parents lose it.

Janet McDougald, chair of the Peel board, told CBC Toronto that “a small but vocal group” have been attending board meetings for the last two months “specifically to make it known they are against Muslim prayer in schools.”
She said that police were forced to clear the meeting on Wednesday after some attendees shouted comments about Shariah law and the Islamic indoctrination of children.

The morning after a tense meeting at the Peel board — where a protester tore up a Quran and others yelled Islamophobic comments — two provincial ministers spoke out in support of schools providing space for Muslim students’ Friday prayers.
“I have met with the leadership of Peel and have obviously been very concerned about what I’ve seen and heard,” said Education Minister Mitzie Hunter who, along with Children and Youth Services Minister Michael Coteau, issued a written statement backing the board.
“… It felt important to Minister Coteau and I to really reinforce our expectations … there’s just no tolerance for discrimination of any sort,” she told reporters at Queen’s Park. “We don’t tolerate issues of racism and Islamophobia.”
At issue in the Peel public board is some schools providing space for Muslim students to pray as a group, on Fridays. The practice has been going on for two decades — as it has in some Toronto public schools — but only recently been targeted by critics by way of protest and petitions demanding the 20 minutes of group prayer, called Jummah, be banned.
Critics believe it leads to segregation among students and inappropriate exposure to religion in a secular school system.
But Hunter and Coteau said allowing such prayers are in full compliance with the human rights code and mandatory board religious accommodation guidelines.
“We encourage parents and students to have an ongoing dialogue with their schools if an accommodation is required or whether there are concerns,” they wrote.
“While it is our expectation that all public school boards comply with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Ontario Human Rights Code, we know that hate continues to spread, even in the most diverse regions of our province.”
At the Peel board’s meeting Wednesday night, tempers flared and police — who have been called in to recent meetings for extra security — cleared the room after about 80 protesters could not be calmed. One ripped up a copy of the Quran, and stomped on it, as others yelled anti-Muslim comments. The board says it has turned the matter over to police.
“To say it’s disrespectful is a great understatement,” said Chair Janet McDougald said. “It’s hateful — the social media has just been abysmal, it’s just been awful, and some of our students are feeling a little unsafe because of it.
Trustees and staff have answered critics’ questions many times to no avail, and McDougald said they have an anti-Muslim agenda.
In response, the board created an information sheet that answers all of the questions the board, and “staff will use this sheet in response — and nothing else — in responding to questions and concerns including social media.”
The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association issued a statement saying “the schools of Ontario welcome and provide a safe place for students who practice the very broadest range of religions and beliefs.”
Hunter and Coteau say the Peel board “has been working closely with their students and the community for more than a decade on religious accommodation in their schools and we are pleased to see their commitment to inclusion.
“… Realizing the promise of Ontario’s diversity is a continuous process grounded in actively respecting and valuing the full range of our differences.”
That the prayers have been happening for so long without controversy demonstrate how it’s a “been a pretty well-oiled practice for many, many years,” said McDougald, adding students sign in and out of the empty classroom space.
The issue in Peel has become so heated that even Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey weighed in.
“Letting Muslim students pray for 20 minutes in an empty space with the supervision of volunteer staff does not cause any financial hardship,” she said in a written statement.
Provincial MPPs recently passed their own anti-Islamophobia motion as a show of solidarity against discrimination toward Muslims.

It just amazes me that muslim women who have, I assume, read the koran and have lived under sharia law or who practice it at home would defend islam in any way, shape or form. It calls for the beating, mutilating, murder, enslavement, rape of women and children (both boys and girls). It denies women basic rights…why would they be so fervent to defend such a cult? It’s a cult of hate and murder. They kill Christians and Jews with impunity, even other muslims who believe differently then try to claim it’s a religion of peace?

If these brilliant folks would not have done it – Muslims would have succeeded.

Your post is absolutely correct. Islam has not evolved, maybe due to the fact that it’s newer and is just now going through its “Crusade phase” which happened at roughly the same time after the founding of each religion. The acts committed in the name of Islam are atrocious, I completely agree. However, your argument of “yeah, but they’re worse!” is a cop out. Just because thing number one is bad, that doesn’t make thing number two good. What about thing number three? Or 78? Or 0?

You’re wrong about islam not evolving. It most certainly has. The whole ultra-fundamentalist reform movement represented by Whahabism, Salafism, Sayyid Qutb’s ideas which contributed to the founding of the muslim Brotherhood, and the rise of movements such as Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, and ISIS is the very wide ranging EVOLUTION that has transformed/reformed modern islam. It is not simply going through a “Crusade Phase” as you put it, as if on some identical “growth track” and timeline as Christianity. Islam’s reformation was not towards modernization and enlightenment, but rather towards strict traditionalism and fundamentalism. Because they believe the Quran is THE EXACT & DIRECT WORD OF THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD, (allah) AS REVEALED TO HIS ONLY MESSENGER (muhammad), muslims can never have a liberalization and enlightened reformation of islam without rejecting its’ very core roots & tenets and heading down the path of heresy and blasphemy.

I didn’t say Christians had nothing to do with abolishing slavery. I said they ALSO were the ones that owned slaves from the founding of the country and they were justified in doing so if you follow the Bible.
And Christianity is based on both Testaments found in the Bible, that’s why you don’t own a New Testament, you own the whole book. It’s a package deal. Don’t believe me? Think you can ignore the Old or that it no longer applies? Let’s ask Jesus in Matthew 5:17-18:

Why are you bringing atheists into this? Are they forcing their views/prayers on people now too? Oh wait, they don’t have any prayers and are only fighting against prayer in school so that things like THIS EXACT SITUATION doesn’t happen to children of Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Buddhist, etc. parents.

9/11 was nothing in comparison to what muslums did in the 20th century alone in places like:
1. Armenia/Turkey — 2.5 million Assyrian and Armenian Christians slaughtered
2. E. Timor — hundreds of thousands of unbelievers in islum slaughtered
3. Bangladesh — 2.5 to 3 million Hindus slaughtered (thousands of Hindu women raped).
Muslums have already slaughtered some ten thousand Nigerian Christians in Nigeria in the 21st century.

I guess you also don’t know that there were British and Irish slaves long before any black slaves…and also that a black man was the first slave owner on US soil. Muslims were actually the ones to start slavery…and as a fact you may also not know…that only roughly 1% of Americans ever owned a slave because many could never afford them. Another fact….many slaves had better food, housing and clothing than non-slaves back then….so please do tell me how Christians were so savage?

The non-Muslim infidel Christians need to closely stand outside the Muslim prayer room holding a cross and recite the Lord’s Prayer. Repeat as needed. Start just before the Muslims try to leave their room, restrict them from leaving and force them to listen to the Prayers.
At the end of the Christian 20 minutes of legal praying, chant Christ is Greater, Christ is Greater.

The history of unholy islam shows us that nations which allowed muslims into their nations either fell to the muslims or they drove them out at gun point(or sword point) – this is a fact and there are no exceptions to this history. The politicians, all governing bodies govern only with the peoples permission, that permission can be retracted and at that point those who are part of the governing body become criminals who will be dealt with as the people see fit. It would behoove all those who are part of a governing body in a free nation, to remember that.

These board members, faculty members and politicians (especially the women) that support the muslim prayer room should be forced to spend at least a week without bodyguards in a muslim “no go zone” or refugee camp. “Muslim students pray for 20 minutes” – then Buddhists pray for 20 minutes, then Protestants, then Catholics, then Methodists then all the other dozens of religions, each getting their 20 minutes, then school is over. Anything less than equal treatment is religious discrimination by the Province, the Schools and School Boards. No point in hiring teachers as there will be no teaching done, just one supervisor so Muslims don’t attack Canadians.
Why are these people giving in so easily? Why are they pandering to Islam?
