Chase Daniel visits Jets in increasingly desperate QB hunt

The Jets will host free-agent quarterback Chase Daniel for a visit Monday, a source confirmed to The Post, as their prolonged search for a veteran quarterback continues.

Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg are the Jets’ quarterbacks at the moment, and the team has been looking to add a more experienced passer as a mentor and projected Week 1 starter.

Daniel, 30, asked for his release by the Eagles earlier this month after Nick Foles was signed essentially to replace him as Carson Wentz’s backup. Daniel previously spent time with the Saints — whom he visited this weekend — and the Chiefs.

Ironically, Daniel’s career NFL ledger includes two starts and 78 pass attempts; Petty has made four starts and 133 pass attempts.

The Jets hosted journeyman Josh McCown over the weekend, though the 37-year-old McCown departed without a deal. Jay Cutler remains on the Jets’ radar.
