At some point in our lives, most of us have taken something that didn’t belong to us.

Perhaps it came in the form of borrowing an item and forgetting to return it. Many have fallen into the trap of engaging in a revenge heist after a casino owner stole the love of their life. Maybe one day the thrill of shoplifting couldn’t be repressed. We’re not here to judge.

As it turns out, this also applies to Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price. On Sunday night, Price stole a small disk of vulcanized rubber from its rightful owner: the back of the net.

Kyle Turris of the Ottawa Senators was set up for a one-timer and made an honest effort to deposit the puck where it belonged. Suddenly, Price came out of nowhere to prevent it from reaching its destination.

As pointed out by whoever was running the NHL’s Twitter account at 9:34 p.m. ET, it’s an absolutely astounding piece of pad work. It’s also a demonstration of fantastic lateral movement, and a feat of flexibility that put Price’s groin in harms way. In fact, it was practically a perfect act of goaltending.

Price could use some work as a criminal, though. The next time he commits grand larceny like that he might want to make sure there are fewer cameras around. Rookie mistake.
