BLACK Country Triathlete Rob Kennard secured an age-group success in Spain.
Kennard travelled to Mallorca last weekend for the Powerman Spain Duathlon. The race consisted of a 10k run, 60k bike then a 10k run in the resort of Can Picafort and took place in conditions more akin to the UK with high winds, drizzle and cloud.
However, a strong field, including Olympic cyclist Emma Pooley, were on the start line. Kennard came home in a time of 3hr 10min, finishing 42nd overall, including elite athletes, and first in the Male Vet50 category.
The success hands him automatic qualification for the World Powerman Duathlon Championships in Zofingan, Switzerland, in September.
