I just got a used electric ignition distributor based on the 25D. I can't tell what kind of ignition system it is, but possibly the attached photo will help. Unfortunately, it came with the wrong cap and rotor, and the trigger ring was missing. Getting a cap and rotor is relatively simple. Does anyone have a spare trigger ring that might work, or can anyone suggest where I should go to find one. I had this in the Buy, Sell & Trade area without any response. Hope someone sees it here.

These are the parts you will need for your MGB with a solid state switching (no points or condenser) and a very hot coil and spark plug wires.

Looks like my Accuspark unit, but one never knows. Some units look similar but are from different manufacturers....

Anyhow, since a complete Accuspark unit for a 45D, two types of trigger ring included, sell for 35€ over here, just trying for this ring hardly saves you money IMO

PS The reason two version of this ring are included is the fact the thickness and shape of the shaft may be different and forcing a ring on may lead to breakage (guess how I know)

Agree, looks like Accuapark but could be from any of the "Chindia" clones. I suspect the Hall effect magnet rings between all the cheap clones are the same. Contact Accuspark, because at least they are a real company. I bet the Pertronix ring fits too. It may be cheaper just to buy a complete igniter kit if you include shipping etc.
Not a TrueSpark, Not a HotSpark.

I found the cylinder to cylinder timing to vary depending on how the ring sat in my dizzy. I suspect magnet quality but could be molding quality. The TrueSpark was much more consistent being a VR pickup, but terrible advance curve. I had Pertronix modules in other cars and don't remember an issue.

I might add, the advance curve and vacuum can for all of the clones are widely variable and not very appropriate to the MG engine. Most come in full at 4500 or more, and the total advance is usually over 30 degrees. ( worse than 74 emission spec) You have no idea if the vac can is for manifold or ported vac. I have a cheap e-bay clone, accuspark, and a truespark. All were worse than my original much disliked 74 curve. Personally, maybe you can get it to make the car run, but I would seriously think about a better unit. Take a hint, they sell one unit to fit all Lucas 25 and 45 series cars. They physically fit, that is about it.

FWIW, I very happily run a 123 tune in my roadster and am returning my GT to points temporally. I don't really like distributors in the first place, so I am a bit biased. If you must, no mater the source, you need the advance curve to match your engine. So that means have Jeff set up a Lucas one or go electronic. Best of both worlds would be a Lucas CEI set up for your car.

More accurate summary.
The "test sheet" that came with my Accuspark says 34 degrees mechanical @ 5000. It was more like 30@ 4500. Nothing on the can. It was binding anyway.
HotSpark claims to be a 41427 but for ported vacuum 17 degrees @ 4000
Chinese, made by Ningbo Shunxing claim to be a 41630, but who the heck knows.
Pertronix does not say either.

Picture does look like the Accuspark module.
