I'm slowly taking my ZB apart and trying to figure out what parts will work and what parts won't.
Some previous owner had clamped an after market turn signal switch onto the column, now I know why.
The center part of the original switch is broken, and a chunk is missing.
I'm unable to find a replacement switch anywhere.

I saw an old, closed ebay listing where the motif, switch, and horn ring were sold as an assembly for what seemed like an astronomic price. It will be quite a while before I *need* a switch, so I'm not ready to finance someone's vacation for one. smiling smiley

Using the great pictures on Steve Hanegan's site, I think I can reproduce a workable piece out of delrin, but I thought I'd ask if anyone knows where I might find one first.
I've attached a picture of most of the bits I have, showing the broken piece, and a picture from Steve's site showing what the piece should look like.

Man, that bites. Did you see if Peter has one at a reasonable price? The switch works great if lubed and serviced once every 50 years.

Thanks Wray (and Ian for the PM).
I've sent an email to Peter.

There's plenty more on this car to keep me busy for at least a year before I'll resort to making the part if I can't find a replacement.

Just a thought and a bit of a long-shot but early TR Triumphs and big Healeys also had the indicator switch on the end of a stator tube too - bit of a silly idea really, if you ask me! I wonder if there is any chance that there are some parts in common? Does anyone know?

Try & get a look at an old Lucas 1950's parts list. They have great illustrations and cross references. Plough round Google & see what you can turn up, I came across a complete digitised version some years ago . It was great, but as hard to navigate as the original 300 plus pages!
I suspect many of the internal bits will be the same....costs may be as well!
Good luck
David

My Magnette Illustrated Parts List says the switch part number is AJH5059, and a google search says it's used on the Morris Oxford series 2 and 3.
Parts for those don't seem to be any more plentiful that ZB parts, but at least I have more to search for when I'm bored! :-)

I guess following the picasa pictures that were linke above will explain on how everything is taken apart. So drilling should be needed.

It's a pity I didn't see post this last week Jim there was one in a box of tatty bits at the Triumph & MG Spares day in the UK at the weekend even if it was u/s it may have had enough to get you sorted. I could have mailed it. Generally very little Magnette stuff in the Autojumble but this one guy had some bits, door window channels, exterior door handles (pitted) window winders were priced at £10. Instrument panel fascias needing re-veneering. I thought hard about picking up an MGA 4.3 Diff (asking £120) but really need to know if a stock 1500 with H2 carbs and a ZB exhaust manifold would suit it?

Oh, thats what I meant to write. No drilling required. I should read twice prior to posting for the next time.

Mac, I think that was the guy from Widnes who advertises on the Magnette.org website sometimes, although, I can’t see anything at the moment. I think it may be:

If not, Peter Martin has a contact number.

Yes it is David, I picked up his business card. Asked him about my Holy grail - ZA hockey sticks but all he has are bent and battered.
