JOHN Hill admits he was surprised at how flat Halesowen Town's performance was against Warrington.

The Yeltz suffered a 1-0 away defeat last Saturday as they failed to back up the previous weekend's success at Skelmersdale.

It was the first time the Yeltz haven't hit the back of the net in eight games.

Hill said: "The performance wasn't great. It was a really flat showing from us that I didn't expect.

"We had two good training sessions, had won the previous week and the atmosphere was good. Warrington are a good side though so they should take some of the credit as well.

"We did struggle to create chances. I think we only had one all game. We were still in it with the score at 1-0 but they were worthy winners."

The manager is keen for his side to hit back quickly to avoid getting dragged into an end-of-season survival fight.

They host Barwell at the Grove this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

He added: "It is now time for us to start putting some points on the board.

"Frickley are winning and Corby are coming with a run so we need to make sure we keep away from them.

"Barwell will be another tough test. They were on a really good run until they lost last weekend and they'll be keen to bounce back as well."

Hill says he's hoping to bring in two new additions ahead of the weekend.

They will add to the arrival of left-sided attacker Rob Taylor, who joined the Yeltz last Friday.

Shrewsbury-born Taylor, 32, started his career in non-league football as he continued his university education. Port Vale offered him a trial in 2008 which started a six year spell with the Valiants during which time he made 181 appearances scoring 21 goals, finishing his Vale career in League One.

After leaving Port Vale he signed for Mansfield Town, Tranmere Rovers and Kidderminster Harriers.

"It is great to have Rob with us," said Hill. "He is a player of great pedigree but he hasn't played for a while so we will have to take our time with him to start with."
