Kubo and the Two Strings is perfect for a family movie night. The 3-D stop-motion animated adventure film directed by Travis Knight has an all-star cast of voice actors, including Rooney Mara, George Takei, and Charlize Theron. The Laika film revolves around Kubo, a one-eyed boy in ancient Japan who has magical powers and must subdue an army of evil spirits.

The White Helmets is yet another short Netflix documentary to receive a nomination at the 89th Academy Awards. The prescient film follows the daily operations of volunteer workers of the Syrian Civil Defense who put themselves in the middle of the direst situations to rescue citizens. This group is also known as the White Helmets.

Zootopia

Zootopia is a Disney animated film directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore that details the unlikely partnership between a fox con artist and a rabbit police officer as they undercover a conspiracy involving the disappearance of certain predator species from Zootopia. The cast includes Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Shakira.
