Sony Interactive Entertainment announces it will discontinue the PlayStation Now game streaming service across various legacy and non-gaming platforms beginning this August 15th 2017. While PS Now remains open for business as usual on the PS4 and Windows PC, the service sadly closes up shop for these devices:
- PlayStation 3
- PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV
- All 2013, 2014, 2015 Sony Bravia TV models
- All Sony Blu-ray player models
- All Samsung TV models
- All 2016 Sony Bravia TV models will also be losing PS Now support starting April 1st, well ahead of schedule.
What this means is that PS3, Vita and PS TV owners will be losing the option to play Sony's back catalogue of some 450+ PS3 titles via online streaming come August. The good news is that their PS Now subscriptions still entitle them to access to the service (and their cloud saves!) on the PS4 and PC; a not-so-subtle reminder that Sony really wants you move on to the PS4 at this point!
Tommy Vercetti it'll live on beyond even the scope of die hard fans like LimitedRunGames. Haven't seen dedication to a device like this since the Dreamcast - the unofficial support is impressive as hell too.
Playstation Store is the only place I can find, buy and download these games properly and I'm slowly turning my PS3 into a time machine with all these classics.
