Meet 'The Bad Batch' In First Trailer For Ana Lily Amirpour's New Movie

After breaking out with “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night,” writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour likely had a few open doors, and could’ve pivoted toward mainstream. Instead, she decided to double down on her unique storytelling voice and make “The Bad Batch,” and make no mistake, it couldn’t have come from any other filmmaker.

Featuring an eclectic ensemble including Suki Waterhouse, Jason Momoa, Giovanni Ribisi, and Keanu Reeves, the film is set in an arid, dystopian future, and follows a young woman who is captured by a tribe of cannibals. Here’s the official synopsis:

The highly anticipated follow-up to Amirpour’s acclaimed directorial debut, A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, THE BAD BATCH follows Arlen (Waterhouse) as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland fenced off from civilized society. While trying to orient her unforgiving environment, she is captured by a savage band of cannibals and quickly realizes she’ll have to fight her way through her new reality. As Arlen adjusts to life in ‘the bad batch’ she discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who you’re standing next to.

“The Bad Batch” opens on June 23rd.
