Have you ever looked in your Facebook photos and realized that there are pictures in there that aren’t yours – in fact you may have no idea how those photos got into your Facebook photos? It says that they are photos of you, but there may be pictures in there that have no relation to you whatsoever, other than that you were tagged in the photo by whomever actually posted the photo. So how do you get those tagged photos out of your albums? How do you delete a tagged photo on Facebook or, put another way, how do you remove your name from photos in which you have been tagged? How do you untag yourself from someone else’s picture?

It turns out that it is easy to remove yourself and your name from tagged photos. What is hard is figuring out where that option is hidden (hint, it’s actually hidden in plain sight).

Here is a good example. Here, from my own Facebook page are, Facebook tells us, Photos of Anne. You can clearly see that these are not all photos of me. Some are me. Some are our dog. But one image there does not feature any member of my family or household; in fact, it is an image that has been foisted on me by someone who decided to tag a whole bunch of people when they posted their images of iPhone-related subjects.

Fortunately, all you have to do to remove your tag from the offending photo is to, first, click on the image so that you are taken to the page where the photo was actually posted. There, just below the photo, you will see a list of everyone who was tagged in that photo:

Now, find your name, and next to your name you will see two links – one is to your photos – and the other is to remove that tag.

Simply click on “remove tag” and, tah dah! Like magic, your tag will be gone, and the photo will be gone from your album.

  1. Thank you very much for this very helpful information. I am not familiar with tagging and untagging and this was a great help for me. Now I can untag pictures that people tag on my Facebook page. Once again, thank you very much!

  2. what i want to know is how to remove ALL tagged photos At Once. it’s a burden going from one photo to another specially if we’re talking about at least 200 photos.
