Five takeaways from the Clippers’ 115-105 victory over Atlanta

1. Austin Rivers fell to the court after missing a layup and quickly grabbed his left ankle late in the second quarter against the Altanta Hawks. A pall enveloped the Clippers guard and his teammates as he limped back to the locker room.

But Rivers didn’t stay gone long, returning for the second half and doing his part to help the Clippers to a 115-105 victory over Atlanta on Monday night at Philips Arena.

Rivers finished with 27 points on 10-for-21 shooting, five for 10 on three-pointers. He also had six assists and four rebounds in 41 minutes, three seconds of heavy-duty action.

Rivers said his left leg “just gave a little bit,” but that it was “nothing serious” and just left the 6-4 guard with a little “soreness.”

2. Almost overlooked was the play of guard J.J. Redick, who had another solid game for the Clippers. He scored 17 points, going six for 13 from the field and three for-four from three-point range.

3. The Clippers’ three-point defense was on point against the Hawks, who shot only 31% from that range.

4. Raymond Felton started in a three-guard lineup against the Hawks. Clippers Coach Doc Rivers had started Marreese Speights in the previous game at Denver. Felton was solid yet again, scoring 14 points, collecting four rebounds and playing his always tough defense.

5. Luc Mbah a Moute was strong on defense again, with four blocked shots against the Hawks. He also had 12 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes, 12 seconds.
