‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Star Miguel Ferrer Dies at 61

Miguel Ferrer, who played Owen Granger on CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” since 2012, and co-starred with Jill Hennessy on NBC’s “Crossing Jordan,” died yesterday following a battle with throat cancer. He was 61. Ferrer was the son of Academy Award and Tony winner José Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney, and the cousin of George Clooney.

“Today, “NCIS: Los Angeles lost a beloved family member,” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said in a statement. “Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart. Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons, and his entire family. He will be greatly missed.”

Born on Feb. 7, 1955 in Santa Monica, California, Ferrer launched his career in the early 1980s with guest roles on series like “Magnum, P.I.,” “CHiPS,” “Cagney & Lacey” and “Trapper John, M.D.” His movie roles included “Heartbreaker,” “The Man Who Wasn’t There,” “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock” and “Robocop,” and he appeared in the original “Twin Peaks” on ABC in 1990, which he re-created his role as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfeld in the upcoming revival on Showtime.

Ferrer also had regularly scheduled roles in TV dramas “Shannon’s Deal,” “Broken Badges” and the revival of “Bionic Woman,” and sitcoms “On the air” and “LateLine.”

He is survived by his wife Lori, and sons Lukas and Rafi.
