Former Fianna Fáil TD Eddie Filgate dies

Eddie Filgate, a former Fianna Fáil TD for Louth has died at the age of 101.

Mr Filgate represented the constituency for five years.

He was first elected to the Dáil in 1977, was re-elected in 1981 and again in 1982.

However, he did not contest the second general election that year.

Tributes have been paid to the late TD by party leader Micheál Martin and current Fianna Fáil TD for Louth Declan Breathnach.
