Politicians, step aside, because Amazon founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, just dropped $23 million for a mega property in Washington, D.C.
To add to the already powerful Kalorama neighborhood, the Bezos family will join D.C.’s most elite residents. Talk about one influential block party!
The home, built in 1914, is 26,900 square feet, has 10 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. They’ll certainly need regular Amazon Dash buttons to keep the toilet paper in stock. In addition to its massive size, the house has a historical pedigree, to boot. The building was home to the Textile Museum until 2013 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The property includes an adjacent building that Bezos reportedly plans to convert into one giant, single-family residence.
Aside from its rich history, the home sits just blocks away from the Obama’s rental home, as well as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s new mansion. Perhaps Bezos is looking to keep a closer eye on happenings at The Washington Post, which he purchased in 2013. Or, maybe he’s following the old rule of thumb, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
No matter his plans, we can’t help but wonder, how many Amazon Echoes will he need to cover this whole home?
