STOURBRIDGE could lose both Dan Scarr and Kristian Green this week after firm approaches were made for the defensive duo.

An offer from a Football League club is now on the table for centre back Scarr, who had a trial with Championship side Birmingham City this week, and a seven day approach for full-back Green has been made by Solihull Moors.

Scarr, who is under contract until the end of the season, was left on the bench as the Glassboys beat Mickleover Sports 4-0 on Tuesday night amid the interest following the club's heroic FA Cup run.

He also had a trial at West Bromwich Albion before playing for the Blues under-23 side on Monday.

Assistant boss Jon Ford admits it will be hard to keep the defender Scarr but is hopeful Green may stay.

Green is not under contract and will speak to Solihull ahead of the weekend.

He said: "The reason we left Dan out against Mickleover was to protect him a little. He has done really well for us and it would be unfair if he got injured.

"There is an offer on the table from a Football League club and we don't want to jeopardise that.

"From a selfish point of view we want to keep our players but we also can't stand in their way.

"We hope Kristian will stay with us because we are a club heading in the right direction. Good things are happening here.

"But he does have the chance to play at a higher level and that is tempting, especially given his age. We just need to wait and see what he decides."

The Glassboys are now up to sixth in the Northern Premier after their second 4-0 away win in the space of four days.

Luke Benbow and Jordan Archer both hit doubles as Stour picked up another vital three points at Mickleover.

That followed last Saturday's win by the same scoreline at Skelmersdale United. Goals from Green, Benbow, a Dylan Smith own goal, and a Chris Lait strike made for another comfortable success to prove their is no FA Cup hangover at Amblecote.

Ford has hailed the strength of Stour's squad after the recent wins.

He said: "I'm extremely pleased with how it has gone since the FA Cup defeat at Wycombe. The one thing different about this year is our strength in depth and our ability to cope with the amount of games we have had to play.

"Stuart Pierpoint came in for Dan Scarr, Kayleden Brown for Chris Lait and Jordan Archer has offered us a different option up front after having to be patient during the cup run.

"Everyone's attitude has been spot on.

"We have now put ourselves in the hunt for promotion and have a real chance of securing a play-off place. We obviously want to start thinking about automatic promotion if we can but we'll concentrate on keeping this run going and see where it takes us."

Stour host Marine at the War Memorial Ground this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

"It is our first home game since Wycombe and it would be great to see the fans come down and show us that support again," added Ford.

Meanwhile, the draw for the third round of the League Cup has seen the Glassboys handed a home tie against Grantham Town. The match will be played on Monday, January 30 with a 7.45pm kick-off.
