A grieving mother believes she spotted the spirit of her dead daughter wearing a white dress in her teenage son's Snapchat selfie.

Patricia Winchester, 44, was stunned to see an eerie figure looming over 13-year-old son Hunter Bounds's shoulder in a photo he sent to a friend on the popular app.

The teenager did not notice the strange white figure in the background of his snap until his friend sent it back to him with a ring around the ghostly shape and asked what was behind him.

Winchester, from Texas, believes what was caught on camera could be the ghost of her daughter Adrianna, who died aged five in 2006 when she was caught under a trailer during a cheerleading parade.

Office manager Winchester said: 'I have a picture of Adrianna wearing a white dress. That's what the figure reminded me of.

'I think I have always had a feeling that Adrianna would show herself in some sort of way. People on social media have said the figure seems to be protecting presence.

'I feel like Adrianna is with him. Part of me really feels her there. I think she is a very strong spirit, and she would be able to do it. It's a comfort in some way.'

Hunter sent the Snapchat selfie to a friend last week before the pal responded with a circle around the apparition in the photograph.

And Winchester said the strange apparition in the photograph terrified her son to such an extent he refused to sleep in his room that night.

But the 44-year-old mother, who is married to Hunter's stepfather Jesse, said she would like to believe the figure meant no harm toward her son.

She said this is not the first time she and Hunter have experienced paranormal activity - with both mother and son experiencing a number of inexplicable happenings since Adrianna's tragic death.

Winchester said: 'Hunter sent me the picture, and just by his text I could tell he was freaked out.

'He said, "Mom, please excuse the bad language but this looks like something." He had been on his computer and on his phone in his bedroom on his own while he was sending Snapchat pictures to his friend.

'His friend had sent his picture back to him asking him what it was that was behind him. And that was when he saw it. You could tell it had scared him.

'Before this he has said he has felt as though something was there.

'Not long after Adrianna passed away I was outside our home with Hunter and our dog. Hunter was pointing up and calling her, and the dog was barking at the same spot.

'And Adrianna actually did visit my father at the hospital when he passed away in 2013. My son and nephew were in the room with him.

'Hunter came out telling me that my father he been calling for Anna (that's what we called her). It was just before he died.

'Other times, I've come and her picture has moved from the table onto the floor while the house has been empty.'

She added: 'I don't usually talk about my daughter but I would quite like to get some answers now and to see if anyone can help at all.'
