On May 6th, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32 KOs) in a showdown of Mexican stars.

For weeks the two sides were negotiating the terms and finally reached an agreement on Friday. The fight will be carried by HBO Pay-Per-View, and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas or AT&T Stadium in Texas will play host.

The fight will take place at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds. There are conflicting statements over the original weight limit. Chavez claims that Canelo agreed to 165-pounds and then demanded a pound less at 164. Canelo's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, claims the fight was offered at 164 and then Canelo agreed to come up half a pound. Whatever the case, they agreed to meet in the middle.

Canelo will come up from 154-pounds, where he holds the WBO junior middleweight title. And Chavez Jr. will come down from the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

According to Chavez, there is a contract clause that will cost him a $1 million for every pound that he's over.

"I always said yes [to the fight], but of course I would not allow them to abuse me.... but in the end I gave in to everything... there is a rematch clause, a million dollars for every pound [that I'm over], the rematch has percentages [on the month], [I agreed to] the weight they applied on the rematch. I'm not allowed to place any fighter of mine to the card. Everything is against me but it does not matter, because in the ring it's only going to be me and him - and nobody is going to help him," Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes.

"I am motivated by the fight. The pressure is on him. I am ready and I am going to win the fight, because at that weight he won't be able to do nothing with me."
