The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will not sport a physical home button, at least if the latest rumor is to be believed. This rumor surfaced in South Korea quite recently, and it seems like Samsung is planning to ditch the physical home button which was a crucial part of the Samsung smartphone experience thus far. This is not the first rumors that reports such news, we’ve seen quite a few of them thus that claim that same thing, so who knows, maybe there’s some truth to it.

In addition to this, the newly-surfaced rumor also claims that the specs and the design of the two devices have been finalized. If the physical home button rumor is accurate, then these two handsets will be the first ‘Galaxy S’ smartphones to ship without the physical home button, which is quite interesting. The fingerprint scanner is supposed to be placed on the back of both of these smartphones, and the standard Galaxy S8 unit will sport a single camera sensor on the back, while the Galaxy S8 Plus is supposed to ship with the dual camera setup on the back. Now, if the provided info is to be believed, the Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.7-inch display, while the Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to launch with a 6.2-inch panel. This is not the first rumor that claims such details either, but it seems kind of weird Samsung is planning to ditch a smaller form factor, especially considering the fact that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge sport 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch displays, respectively.

Now, previous rumors have reported that the Galaxy S8 Plus could ship with the S Pen stylus, and that Samsung might not release a flat screen Galaxy S8 handset this year. It is quite possible that Samsung plans to deploy two different SoC variants of their Galaxy S8 devices yet again, so we’ll probably see Exynos 8895-powered and Snapdragon 835-powered Galaxy S8 handsets this year. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to launch in April, in case you were wondering. These are only rumors, of course, and the same can be said for the info shared in the first two paragraphs, so take all that with a grain of salt, as the company did not confirm anything thus far.
