Bob Arum would prefer to make a Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn fight available on premium cable, not pay-per-view.

Horn’s representatives from Duco Events in Australia are scheduled to meet with Arum on Monday and Tuesday at the promoter’s office in Las Vegas. They’ll discuss details for making a Pacquiao-Horn fight for April 23 in Brisbane, Australia.

“The Horn people, the Duco people, are flying over as we speak to meet with me on Monday and Tuesday in Las Vegas about that fight,” Arum told BoxingScene.com on Saturday. “We’ll talk about the money for that fight, the terms for that fight, etcetera.”

Arum expects to travel to the Philippines to meet with Pacquiao after discussing a deal with Horn’s promoters. The preliminary plan is to stage a Pacquiao-Horn welterweight title fight at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, which could accommodate more than 50,000 fans for boxing.

“Our preference is to have it free for customers in the United States,” Arum said, referring to televising Pacquiao-Horn on premium cable. “But if that’s not possible, if nobody will step up to the plate and do it – it’s not only HBO – then what we do is maybe put on some of our fighters from the United States and do a split-site type of event and put it on pay-per-view.”

Boxing fans would prefer to see the 38-year-old Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KOs) face unbeaten WBC/WBO super lightweight champion Terence Crawford (30-0, 21 KOs), but Arum reiterated that his plan is to make that fight later this year.

The 28-year-old Horn (16-0-1, 11 KOs) is popular in his native Australia, yet virtually unknown among fans in the United States. That’s the primary reason Arum wants to put Pacquiao-Horn on premium cable, not pay-per-view.

A Pacquiao-Horn fight would draw well in Australia, though, where Horn – the No. 2-ranked contender for Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title – is popular.

“They’ve been telling me that because it’s been written about,” Arum said, “and there have been headlines in all the Australian papers, that they have thousands and thousands of people who’ve already requested tickets.”
